To Start With : My Current Skin Profile

Hi everyone! This blog is written to document my personal experience with skincare and makeup products, and also serves as my personal blog for random things that interests me. I spend a big portion of my income on skincare so I thought well why not document it as a reminder of which works on me and which didn't?

To start with, I need to describe my skin profile. My skin is a combination between dry and dehydrated-oily. My nose is very oily to the point where it shines in half an hour or less, but sometimes peels even under the oil. The rest of my face is usually pretty shine free and even dry.
I had a lot of acne on my forehead during the start of puberty, but it turned out to be caused by my very drying facial soap which had exfoliating beads on it. When I tried washing my face only with water, my acne disappeared.

My skin problems didn't end there. My skin got so dry during the end of junior high to high school that it started peeling on the sides of my nose, on my nose, around my mouth, under my eyes, and on my cheeks. It got so bad that my undereyes and the sides of my nose started bleeding from the dryness. My dermatologist at the time prescribed me with topical steroid, which healed me for a while but eventually gave me perioral dermatitis from steroid withdrawal. This happened even as I followed the doctor's instructions to a T. When I asked the dermatologist about it, she declined that the steroid caused my condition. So I stopped going to her and started going off topical steroid.
Perioral dermatitis caused me angry tiny red bumps in close proximity around each other around my nose and mouth. They are very sore and tender to the touch and hurts even when left alone. My skin peeled and bled again. It landed a huge hit on my self confidence as I couldn't even cover it with makeup, due to how bumpy and scaly it was. Plus makeup on it stung.

I persevered for months by only using aloe gel and hada labo lotion sometimes to soothe the dry sting. Eventually after a few months it cleared up. There are still moments when it would flare up again, but it came with less intensity and less frequent over time until I was mostly healed.
Afterwards, my skin was mostly clear except for my very oily nose that gets frequent acne. My skin sometimes get dry, sometimes not. I only used Yves Rocher Peach Creamy Gel and Biore Perfect Milk on my face.

My skin back then on its best day,
happened to have no acne on my nose, but
it's usually perpetually red

After an ex suggested I start trying BHA, I started using Cosrx Blackhead Power Liquid only to find out I was doing it wrong. Basically what I did was use BHA directly after a shower and pile on stuff immediately afterwards. Even when it was my first time, I used it once every 2-3 days and on my whole face. At first, my face seemed to brighten up so I kept using it. It wasn't long until acne started popping up. Thinking it was purging, I persevered. Until it was too late and my face was a mess of acne and blackheads. My skin started getting dry and peeling again, the sides of my nose started bleeding sometimes.

Skin condition thanks to BHA mishap.
Sorry for weird angle ;__;

I tried using Rosette Ceramide Gel, but it didn't exactly heal my skin. It was after I tried using Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium before the Ceramide Gel that my skin started healing. I could see results in around 5 days, and I was mostly healed basically 2-3 weeks after I started. Now I only use BHA on my nose to combat my still oily nose. However, the ordeal caused me some lasting PIH and hyperpigmentation. There's also my issue with milia, which I've had since puberty. I have also added a lot of products into my repertoire since then, and fixed a lot of my issues with dryness and peeling skin.

My skin now, still with some PIH and hyperpigmentation. Still has milia.
No longer dry, full of moist goodness.

Now I am a skincare junkie who spends most of my current income on skincare and makeup products. Mostly to try fixing my skin from the ruins of the BHA storm.

My goal: getting skin so pretty I can forgo wearing any form of base makeup.
I hope you can stay and accompany me on my journey! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Review: Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium

I have a history of REALLY dry skin issues. I had eczema since I was a child and in my teenage years up my skin gets flaky and peeled all the time. So much that my derm had to prescribe me with topical steroid. The topical steroid later turned out to exacerbate the issue because I later found out the hard way why some people refuse to use the ointment. Basically what happens is my skin looked amazing at first, but after around 5 months or so my skin started sometimes errupting in this weird rash that was painful and dry. I got perioral dermatitis flareups from it, and slowly the flareups got more frequent and more painful. Listening to your dermatologist is good and important, but everyone should check the things they are putting in and on their body and ask questions with your dermatologist and doctors and let them explain so you understand the risks and options. Research and discuss. If you notice something wrong, contact the professionals. Your doctors aren't magical workers...

Review: Mizon Snail Repair Intensive Ampoule

The one and only absolute skincare rule is YMMV, your mileage may vary. Basically it says that things which work well for one person's skin may not work at all for other people, and one that brings disaster for one may be amazing for others. This is why patch testing is a thing to make sure that at least your whole face don't get wrecked. (I don't do it, though. I really should.) Mizon has a very famous snail line, and some reviewers and the good peeps at r/asianbeauty have said that it has amazing properties like the ability to repair skin texture (!!!) and help with scarring (!!!!!). Me being a person who has done very stupid things and have very stupid things done to my skin, naturally posses some mild scarring here and there. Pitted scars from squeezing at sebaceous filaments on my nose, some scars from milia extractions done by my derm that didn't heal properly, chicken pox scars, and a scar on my cheek which I've had since childhood and may have been caus...

Review: Melano CC Intensive Anti Spot Essence

Vitamin C is a useful ingredient in skincare and has been known to combat ageing , provides photoprotection, is a depigmenting agent and has anti-inflammatory properties . Vitamin C is a super ingredient and is an important staple for people interested in protecting their skin from signs of early ageing and improving PIH. One famous vitamin C product is the Melano CC. Rohto released the Melano CC line comprising of essence, lotion (remember that in Japanese skincare, lotion is basically moisturizing toner), and face masks. I only got the essence to review since I already have Rohto's Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium in my routine and I think I have plenty moisturizing stuff already. The Melano CC Essence The Melano CC essence has a squeeze tube container in shiny silver colour. The screwed cap is plastic, and it has a tiny pointy applicator so you can use it as a spot treatment easily. It's hygienic, I think even more hygienic than using a pipette/dropper since I suck and...
